Remove duplicate files on a UGREEN NAS

Your UGREEN NAS is filling up with the same photos and videos, but UGOS Pro has no duplicate finder yet? Here's how to find and remove every duplicate on a UGREEN NASync, safely, by content, with nothing to install on the NAS.

Your UGREEN NAS is filling up, and you suspect the same photos and videos are sitting in several folders. You go looking for a way to clean them up in UGOS Pro, and there simply isn't one yet. That's the catch with a new platform: great hardware, but the everyday software tools are still arriving.

No native duplicate finder, and few third-party options

UGOS Pro covers the essentials well: storage, files, backup, media, remote access. But at the time of writing it doesn't include a dedicated duplicate file finder, and because the platform is recent, there isn't much third-party software to fall back on either. So the very normal task of "find the duplicate photos and videos eating my space" has no obvious answer inside UGOS Pro.

You don't have to wait for a native app

The good thing about a NAS is that it speaks a standard language: SMB. NAS Ranger uses exactly that, so it doesn't matter that UGREEN is new or that its app store is still filling out. It connects to your NASync shares directly and works the same way it does on long-established brands.

Find duplicates by content, then clean in bulk

NAS Ranger finds duplicates by content, not by name, so it catches identical files even when names, dates or folders differ, and it won't be fooled by two different files that happen to share a name. You see every duplicate group and the exact space you'd reclaim, then act on many files at once. For the detail of how that works, see how to find duplicate files.

Safe by design, nothing installed on the NAS

Nothing is deleted in place. Confirmed duplicates are moved to a trash folder on the NAS, a rename, so you review before purging. Here's why that stays safe. And since the app runs on your computer, there's nothing to install on UGOS Pro and a system update can't take it away. The same app also works on Windows, macOS, Linux and any other NAS you own.

Try it free: scan your UGREEN NASync, see every duplicate and the gigabytes you can reclaim, before touching a single file.

FAQ

Does UGOS Pro have a duplicate finder?
UGOS Pro is a recent system and, at the time of writing, doesn't include a dedicated duplicate file finder. There's also little third-party tooling for it yet. NAS Ranger fills that gap without waiting for a native app.
Will it work even though UGREEN is a new platform?
Yes. NAS Ranger doesn't rely on UGREEN's apps. It talks to your NASync over standard SMB, which UGOS Pro supports, so it behaves the same as on any other NAS.
Is it safe?
Yes. It finds duplicates by content and never deletes in place. Confirmed duplicates are moved to a trash folder on the NAS, so you review before purging.
Do I need to install anything on the UGREEN NAS?
No. NAS Ranger runs on your computer (Windows, macOS or Linux). Nothing is installed on UGOS Pro, so a system update can't break it.
